Overview
The ability to understand and analyse text is a key skill in the study of English and for many students success in the externally assessed close reading Achievement Standards depends on plenty of practice.
The integrated textbook-workbooks in the Achievement English: Close Reading of Unfamiliar Text series are designed to prepare students for these externally assessed standards (AS 1.3 and 2.3). Each of the titles takes only the relevant Close Reading sections from the popular, larger Achievement English workbooks in order to focus on the analytical skills required in these standards. The intention is to help students expand on the skills they have already developed in prior years and then enhance and develop these skills further with interesting and varied write-on literature and language tasks.
These workbooks assist teachers with additional material to extend their classroom teaching while encouraging students to build a useful revision resource for the end of the year.
