ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Yvette Alexander has over 15 years’ experience teaching Home Economics in a variety of schools ranging from the Eastern Wheat Belt to the Kimberley and more recently the metro area. Yvette has completed the ‘Mise-en-Place’ course and also has Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training. She has had considerable involvement in upper school food production courses.

Julie Luscombe has taught in the secondary schools in Western Australia in both rural and city environments for over 15 years with her major focus in the Home Economics area. Within this area Julie has substantial experience in the upper school Foods courses, as well as outcomes development and implementation in the lower school. Julie is also experienced in the Vocational Education and Training sector of Secondary Schools initiating and developing the Vet In Schools program at her last school. She too, has completed Category IV Workplace Training and the Mise-En-Place course at Bentley TAFE.

Elaine McNally has enjoyed teaching Home Economics in a range of country and city schools for 23 years. She has been Head of Department for 5 years and has been TIC for the past 8 years in her current school. Elaine has been involved in the Syllabus Committee for Independent Living and has addressed fellow teachers at various conferences including a T&E Conference, Home Economics Association events and Professional Development courses. When student-directed learning was initially developed, Elaine was involved with the trialling of the concepts with her lower school classes. She also was experimental in trialling the Early Childhood Studies Pilot programme. Elaine has completed Category IV Workplace Training and the Mise-En-Place course at Bentley TAFE and has had Barista training.

FEATURES

Extension activities are included at the end of each chapter to encourage investigation and these tasks are specific to the different learning contexts of the course.
