PM Oral Literacy Exploring Vocabulary: Extending Big Book and IWB digital links focuses on vocabulary and spoken sentence structures so students can become confident speakers and listeners.

The full-colour big book introduces students to the standard text types(recount, description, information report, narrative, procedure and exposition).

The digital links provide the same learning sequences as the Big Book and includes digital features such as audio, so students can hear the texts read aloud, and videos designed to initiate conversation in the classroom.

Texts are presented in the form of sentence starters. The teacher models the first part of the text and prompts students to discuss and then complete the rest of the text. This extends students' vocabulary as well as their understanding of language features and conventions of specific text types. The sentence starters can be completed digitally and the completed texts printed out.

Discussion questions help develop students' speaking and listening skills. Comprehensive Teaching Notes and Activity Sheets ensure that new learning is carefully developed and reinforced.
